Akabbo - Crowdfunding Campaigns and Community Support

Refund and Cancellation Policy

Effective Date: February 01, 2026

At Akabbo, trust and transparency are fundamental to our platform.

Because contributions made on Akabbo directly support personal causes, charitable initiatives, and community projects, donations are generally considered final and non-refundable once processed.

This policy outlines the precise conditions under which refunds are processed, how campaign cancellations are handled, and how Akabbo manages disputes or allegations of fund misuse.

1. Donation Refund Policy

A. General Principle

All donations made through Akabbo are voluntary, outright contributions. Once a contribution is successfully processed, it is non-refundable unless it meets the strict criteria outlined below prior to fund disbursement.

B. Eligible Refund Scenarios

Akabbo will review and process refunds to donors under the following circumstances:

  1. Duplicate Transactions: The donor made a duplicate contribution in error, provided Akabbo receives written notice within 48 hours of the transaction and prior to fund disbursement.
  2. Unauthorized Transactions: The payment was made fraudulently using a stolen card, compromised account, or unauthorized payment source without the account holder's consent.
  3. Undeliverable Funds: The campaign beneficiary is unable or unwilling to receive the funds raised due to failed identity verification, banking restrictions, or regulatory impediments.
  4. Platform Termination: The campaign was removed or terminated by Akabbo for violating our Terms of Service before funds were disbursed to the organizer.

C. Ineligible Refund Scenarios

Refunds will not be issued for:

  • Change of Mind: Regretting a donation or changing your personal support for a cause after completing a transaction.
  • Offline Donations: Any funds handed directly to an organizer or beneficiary outside the Akabbo digital platform.
  • Disbursed Funds: Requests submitted after funds have passed verification checks and been transferred to the campaign organizer or beneficiary.
  • Disagreements over Campaign Management: Personal disputes regarding how an organizer utilizes funds raised in excess of their original goal.

2. Fraud, Misrepresentation, and Disputed Campaigns

Akabbo takes claims of misrepresentation, deceptive fundraising, and fund misuse seriously. In the event a donor suspects fraudulent activity:

  • Immediate Fund Freeze: Upon receiving a formal claim, Akabbo's team will suspend the campaign and immediately freeze any undisbursed funds remaining in the campaign account pending investigation.
  • Remedies for Undisbursed Funds: If an investigation confirms misrepresentation or policy violations before funds are paid out, all remaining undisbursed net contributions will be returned to their respective donors.
  • Disbursed Funds and Legal Recovery: If fraud or misrepresentation is established after funds have already been disbursed to the organizer:
    1. Akabbo will initiate formal recovery and legal proceedings against the organizer to demand restitution.
    2. The matter will be escalated to relevant law enforcement agencies and financial intelligence authorities.
    3. Any funds successfully recovered through legal, administrative, or police action will be distributed back to affected donors on a pro-rata basis.
    4. Akabbo does not act as an insurer for funds already withdrawn by third parties. Resolution for disbursed fraud cases remains subject to legal recovery and law enforcement outcomes.

3. Campaign Cancellation Policy

A. Cancellation by the Campaign Organizer

Campaign organizers may request to close or cancel their campaign at any time prior to requesting a payout:

  • Prior to Payout: If a campaign is canceled before any funds are disbursed, all remaining held contributions will be refunded to donors.
  • After Partial Payout: If a campaign is canceled after partial funds have been disbursed, any remaining held funds will be returned to donors. The organizer remains legally and financially accountable for accounting for previously withdrawn funds.

B. Suspension or Cancellation by Akabbo

Akabbo reserves the right to suspend, freeze, or permanently cancel any campaign at its sole discretion if:

  • The campaign violates Akabbo's Terms of Service
  • The organizer fails to pass standard Know Your Customer (KYC), national ID, or financial account verification checks.
  • Akabbo detects suspicious activity, fraud, or illicit fundraising.
  • Mandated by regulatory authorities, payment gateways, or law enforcement orders.

In all platform-initiated cancellations due to policy violations, any undisbursed funds held by Akabbo will be returned to donors.

4. Refund Processing and Non-Refundable Gateway Fees

  • Payment Method: Approved refunds will be issued directly back to the original payment instrument used at checkout, such as a credit or debit card, or mobile money wallet.
  • Non-Refundable Gateway Fees: Third-party payment gateway transaction fees and network processing charges charged by card networks or mobile money aggregators are consumed at the moment of the original transaction execution and are non-refundable under all circumstances, including refunded or reversed transactions.
  • Net Refund Amount: All approved refunds cover the net contribution amount credited to the campaign. Donors will receive the net amount after third-party payment processing fees have been accounted for.
  • Timeline: Once approved by Akabbo, refunds typically reflect in the donor's account within 3 to 7 business days, depending on the external payment processor or mobile network operator.

5. How to Submit a Refund Claim

To report fraud or request a refund for an eligible transaction:

  1. Submit a formal request through support@rubypesa.com.
  2. Include your full name, transaction reference ID, date of donation, campaign URL, and a detailed explanation of your request, along with supporting documentation for claims of unauthorized use or fraud.
  3. Refund requests for duplicate charges must be submitted within 48 hours of transaction execution. Fraud claims regarding undisbursed campaigns must be submitted within 90 days of the donation date.
